Sep 10, 2023 - Grade 4 (Sunday AM)

Hari OM Dear Families,

With Pujya Gurudev's Grace and our Swamiji's blessings we started our new Bala Vihar session today. We all assembled in the temple mantap and after the introduction of session co-ordinators and the teachers, the children were dispersed to their respective classes in a sequence.

Here is this week's update.

Week 1:
10th September 2023 9:15 AM
Opening prayers and Shlokas
Slokas: Class began with 3 OMs followed by

"Om Saha Navavatu" (page 8 in My Prayers book)

"Vakratunda Mahakaya" (page 27 in My Prayers book)
"Saraswathi Namastubhyam"
"Gurur Brahma" (page 60 in My Prayers book)
"Krishnaya Vasudevaya" (page 105 in My Prayers book)

Ice breaker session and getting to know each other. All the kids introduced themselves, and told us about the fun things they did over the summer, their hobbies and interests and about their school. They had some interesting stories to share.
Many of them are returning Bala Vihar children, so we did a recap of what they learnt in third grade. They did recollect many stories they had learnt, which was nice.

We then introduced them to our curriculum this year - Krishna everywhere and My Twenty four teachers.

Lessons - My 24 teachers -  Intro

Who is a teacher? and Why do we need a teacher?

1.Who we are and what we know, is because of our teachers. We are indebted to them.

2.Anyone or anything can be our teacher.

3. We need to have the right attitude and humility to recognize them and learn.

4. Nature is one of our greatest teachers.

How can we be a disciple ?

● Have humility

● Listen, learn and follow with discipline.

There are teachers everywhere...anyone or anything can be a teacher !

Swami Chinmayananda Ji

We showed a picture of our Gurudev, Swami Chinmayanda, and asked who he was. Everyone was quick to give the right answer.

As homework, we asked the children to research and find out one fun fact about Gurudev and tell us in the next class. We will continue our discussion in the next class.

It was a fun and interactive session today. All the children participated with a lot of enthusiasm and interest.

We then met some parents who came to the class and informed them about the class structure, syllabus etc. We will schedule a meeting with you all in the near future to answer any questions you may have. But in the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

We look forward to meeting the kids next Sunday.

Best regards,
Rekha  & Neelima
