Sept 24, 2023 - Shishu Vihar (Sunday AM)

Hari Om Parents!

Welcome to our 2023-24 Balavihar Sun 9.15am Toddler/Pre K ( Sishu Vihar) session!!  It was lovely seeing many of our returning families and also meeting all of our new families. We look forward to a fun and exciting year learning along with all our kids.  Below is a summary of what we did in our September 24th class. 

• We started our class with 3 Oms followed by Sahana vavatu
              Om saha nāvavatu
              saha nau bhunaktu
              saha vīryam karavāvahai
              tejasvināvadhītamastu
              mā vidviṣāvahai
  

              Om śhantiḥ śhāntiḥ śhantiḥ

  and then also said the following 3 Chants listed below 
  

 Om Sri Ganeshaya namaha, Om Sri Saraswathye namaha,  Om Sri Sat Gurubyoh namaha

• We then moved on to reinforcing the shloka we are learning for this month. This is the shloka for Lord Ganesha
  

   Vakratunda Mahaakaaya   Sooryakoti Samaprabha

   Nirvighnam Kurume Deva   Sarva Karyeshu Sarvada

• We then introduced the shloka for Mata Saraswati - 

             Sarasvati Namastubhyam  Varade Kāmarūpini 

                      Vidyārambham Kariṣyāmi   Siddhir Bhavatu Me Sadā

• It was time to then move on to a few Yoga stretches and poses. Once Yoga had us all energized we learnt and sang bhajans of Ganesha--- 

                        Gaṇeśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam gaṇeśa.       Gaṇeśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam gaṇeśa.                                         

                        Vāgīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam vāgīśa.        Vāgīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam vāgīśa.

                        Sārīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam sārīśa.        Sārīśa śaraṇam, śaraṇam sārīśa.

           And our favorite action song - O Great God Ganapati

    Great God Ganapati, I bow to Thee,

    Elephant faced one, I bow to Thee,

    Delight of Lord Shiva, I take refuge in Thee,

    O big Belly Son of Mother Parvati,

   Infinite Om, Oh I bow to Thee,

    You ride on a mouse and Win Victory.

• After bhajans it was time to sit still a bit by doing our meditation. We love seeing how the kids are all learning this game to sit still and close their eyes and count in their minds! 

• It was then time for our story -- Our story was about "Ganesha and his Vehicle Mouse" in which we heard about  how Lord Ganesh blesses Krauncha to become his vehicle as mouse. 
• It was then time to make our craft which was making a mouse from paper!!!

• We had so much fun making the craft !! Our class concluded with closing prayers.

                         Om pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidam

                          pūrṇāt pūrṇamudacyate

                          pūrṇasya pūrṇamādāya
                          pūrṇamevāvaśiṣyate

 It is always a lot of fun interacting with all of our kids and hope all of you enjoyed our class as well. See you in our next class.
