Here's a quick recap of the short class we had on Sunday.
After a quick meditation, we learnt Bhagavadgeeta Ch. 4. We have finished learning 20 verses now!
The Kyun Kyun (QQ - Quirky Question) of the day was a Surprise Math quiz - Divide 40 by a half and then double the result. What do you get?
Some of them said, 'It will still be 40'.
Many nodded in agreement!
Nope! Not really...
A couple of them called out, 'It will be 160'.
That's right! The answer is 160. The question was to divide 40 by 'a half' not 'divide 40 into half'.
40 ÷ 1/2 = 40 x 2 = 80
Doubling 80 gives us 160.
So, 160 is the correct answer. This showed that in our urgency to get to the answer, we overlook simple stuff and make silly mistakes, especially in tests and exams! This was a reminder to be more careful and read/hear the question in its entirety!
We had to end the class with this relevant reminder today. There was going to be a challenge at the Houses inaugural event in the main hall. All the Bala Vihar children participated in a contest among the 4 different Houses. It was a fun event where children wrapped cutlery in napkins neatly. (They will be donated to a Soup Kitchen.) The house that made the most in a neat manner got the most points.
