Hari Om Parents,
Today was the 13th class of Balavihar!! Here is the summary of what we covered in the class today:
Opening Prayers: All of us assembled in our classroom 'Krishna', we all chanted three OMs and then chanted the Opening Prayers - Sahana Vavatu. All the kids chanted together nicely. It felt very nice and calm after.
Sloka time: We then chanted the slokas
Ganesha Sloka
Krishna sloka,
Rama sloka,
Hanuman slokas and recited it a couple of times. All the kids repeated nicely and some chanted individually too.
Rama sloka:
rāmāya rāmabhadrāya rāmacaṃdrāya vedhase . raghunāthāya nāthāya sītāyāḥ pataye namaḥ and SriRama Rama meti,
Hanuman Slokha:
Manojavam Marut Tulya Vegam Jitendriyam Buddhi Mataam Varishtham ।
Vaataatmajam Vaanara Yooth Mukhyam Shri Raama Dootam Sharnam Prapadye ।।
Alphabet Chant : We revised all the alphabets until I, and all the kids repeated the Vedantic Alphabets learnt so far.
Introduced to the next letter: I - stands for Intelligence and that Intelligence is the mental ability of understanding and learning new facts.
Brainstorming: Kids were asked questions on what is mind? What is Intellect? and explained that Intellect helps us decide what is right and what is wrong and our Mind helps us recognize specific objects or situations. And that our intellect gives us good advice; but, to become a good person, we must also learn to listen to our intellect, just as we listen to our parents.
Exploration: We learnt the difference between humans and animals is that humans possess a well developed mind and an intellect, while animals do not. And that we need to use our Intellect wisely by making the right choices. We discussed a few situations on how our intellect helps us in making the right decisions. And discussed that the Elephant uses its long trunk to distinguish between right and wrong. And some animals possess special abilities like dogs, swans etc.
Story Time: Through the story of the monkeys and the Hat seller we learnt how the hat seller used his wit and got back his hats from the monkeys.
Activity -1: Test our brains - Kids were given a Cryptic message(letters in the words, written in reverse) , to decode.
Basically its Gurudev's message for little Kids
"Chant Om 5 times every day and Say Hello to God". Kids focused on the given message and tried to decode and couple of kids were successful in getting the whole message and few others completed first few words.
Activity -2: We briefly discussed about the Ram temple inauguration in Ayodhya, happening this week, and Kids were given a beautiful portrait of Lord Sri Ram and were asked to color it, while chanting Jai Sri Ram in their mind, while we played a beautiful Ram Bhajan in the background.
Attendance: Attendance was taken and each kid responded by saying Hari Om.
Then we went to the assembly for Aarthi and Pledge.
It was another interesting session, Kids happily discussed how they played in the snow, Pongal celebrations, their vacations and they actively participated in the class activities and shared their views.
Few of our class kids participated in the Story Telling Competition and they each individually narrated the story in the class, and it was wonderful to hear their beautiful narration containing minute details. We are very proud and happy for the kids who participated in the Story telling competition.
Have a wonderful week ahead!!
