Topic: Temples of India - Part 2
Today we spoke about the Dravidian style of temple architecture. Prominent in the south of India, it has a single shikhara which is shaped like a pyramid
The most prominent element is the Gopuram. The garbhagriha has no windows, no electricity and running water.
Activity: # TIL
The children learned about the Mamallapuram monuments and temples, including the Shore Temple complex. We watched a video showing this unique temple.
We discussed the Srirangam temple and the Brihadishwara temple as great examples of the Dravida style of temple architecture.
Temples in India have even been designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Next, we took time to practice for our class performance coming up. Please save the date - Gr 6 performance is on March 3rd, 2024.
