Hari Om Parents,
We are extremely glad to be with your 5th graders this year in Bala Vihar. We started with 3 om's, Sahana Vavatu ,Vakrathunda,Saraswati namasthubyam ,Gurur brahma and Buddhir balam .A few kids said they did not know the shlokas. We will slowly help them memorize the shlokas.You can also find them in My Prayers book. The children were all ready and eagerly spoke about themselves , what they did during the summer etc.
Our curriculum for this year is Mahabhartha upto Virat parva and Saints of India. We plan to do both simultaneously. We started off today with a very brief introduction to the epic Mahabharata .
Mahabharata was narrated by Vyasa and written by Ganesha. Ganesha agreed to write on the condition that Vyasa would recite the epic nonstop. Veda Vyasa agreed to it with a counter that Ganesha would not write unless he understood every verse. There are over 100,000 shlokas and is considered as the fifth veda. Vishnu Sahasranamam, Bhagvad Geeta, Yaksha Prasnam, Vidur Neeti etc are a few gems of Mahabharata. There are 18 parvas and we will learn the first 4 this year.
As mentioned to the students, they should have My prayers book,handbook 2023-2024 ,a note book for Likita Japa and a pen/pencil. Please join our group WhatsApp for faster updates. We are sending the link again for the new parents as well as for the existing parents who want to add their spouses.
